Servant

For the next six weeks in girls group, we are going to look at the Easter story and see how the things Jesus said in his last month or so on earth can impact our lives. Well, to start it off, we really started out with a giant concept- servitude. This, honestly, impacted me in a way that I can't even fathom, God really does work great miracles. You see, just last week I opened my door to a not-super-close-friend who I'm now living with because she was kicked out of her house. It's crazy, as I was thinking about it, how well this ties in with the example of servitude. But then I got to thinking... this is honestly the first action I can think of in the last few months where I have really done something good for other people without the incentive of personal gain. So, I'll be challenging myself this next week, to do something in order to serve others. It's going to be a worthwhile journey, I know, and I can't wait.

Life Update

Senior year's been grueling. Most of the time it feels annoying, stupid, pointless. Like another year at an institution that's done practically nothing for me the past three is really going to make a difference? But, you know what, I am proud of my senior year. I like it. I'm glad that I get this last year to make memories, to learn from my experiences, to get closer with my friends. I like the fact that I talk to more people this year than I ever have in the past. But, I'm also excited to get to college.
Now, it's funny, I pretty much only applied to two schools- Azusa Pacific University and Pepperdine University. Both of these schools are a bit of a drive from my house, both of these schools have a superb academic reputation, and both of these schools are Christian. Now, I've always held a belief that you get a bunch of Christians together the population is generally worse than any secular school. Why, then, would I apply to Christian universities only? Well, it's simple really. I'm passionate about knowing more about God.
I really didn't know at first, to be honest, why I was doing it, either. I just thought that the atmosphere would be a little better, the boys would be nicer, maybe I'd get a date for once in my life. But, you know, that's not it. I really really want to learn more about God. And... now that I've figured that out everything makes so much more sense.
So, in short, even though I'm liking senior year (for once) and enjoying this time I have to be a kid, I'm ready to go on. 134 days till graduation! Can't wait.

Blessed!

Feeling really awesomely blessed tonight. I went out with some friends, got in the water at the beach when it was pitch black outside, had a dinner date with my friend, and then went to Starbucks. Life's awesome, praise God. It's a nice change from the past few crappy weeks. Now to do some computer time, quiet time, then sleep. Church tomorrow :)

Mine and Vanessa's starbucks, vanilla spice lattes.

Big Future

Well, I'm well overdue on this whole blog posting thing. I'm really a lazy person, it's probably one of my worst traits, so keeping up with a blog is soooo hard for me. Anywho, I figure this has been a big enough event that i can blog about it. I got into college!! Whooo! I only applied to two colleges that I really wanted to go to, Pepperdine University and Azusa Pacific University. I also applied to three UC (University of California) schools, but mostly because everyone else was doing it so I figured I'd be stupid not to (which really, in and of itself, was pretty stupid). Anyway, these two schools have been my dream for a really long time, I've been looking at them since I was a freshman in high school, and as of today I have officially been accepted into APU! This is a big step for me, since I managed to receive only a 1.6 GPA my first semester of my freshman year. I'm excited about this, and been doing some serious praising God. I can't wait to see what else is in store for me!
Me and my APU acceptance!
